The Health Center is the Local Registrar for all births and deaths that occur in Cape Girardeau County. The Health Center can issue certified copies of birth certificates for anyone born in the State of Missouri after 1920. If you were born in another state, you must contact that state office. The Health Center can issue certified copies of death certificates for anyone dying in the State of Missouri after 1980.Certified copies of other years of birth or death can be obtained from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Website in Jefferson City, Missouri.

The Health Center can provide birth or death certificates for the State of Missouri between 8:30 and 4:00 Monday thru Friday. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, all services are by appointment only. Please call 573-335-7846 to schedule your appointment before coming to the Health Center.

Mail-in requests must be NOTARIZED by an acceptable notary public and mailed with a MONEY ORDER and SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED RETURN ENVELOPE.
